Our Photography Sample Video

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

I remember in my younger days (this will give you a clue how old I am…) when a startup TV channel began broadcasting. It was called MTV. My friend, Roy, and I were captivated by the combination of music and images so much so that we stayed up the whole night watching it when we first found it.

Even though I wouldn’t recommend MTV to anyone now, I am still captivated by the mingling of music and images. It’s a very powerful medium to present photography.

Part of what we provide to our wedding and senior clients is a slideshow of their images set to music. But, that’s what it is… a slideshow. What we’re posting here is something more akin to a music video. On this, the images and their presentation are much more dynamic and compelling than just a slideshow.

So, this is our first music video “commercial.” Enjoy the samples. If you see anyone you recognize, call them and let them know!

Portraits in Colorado Springs - What to wear?

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Family portrait in DecemberWe get asked on almost every session, “What should we wear?” For just about every session, with some exceptions for H.S. Seniors, we recommend darker colors with no prints. Stick with solid colors.

Here are a few reasons why you should consider darker colors.
1. Darker colors subtract weight from the subject.
2. Darker colors focus the attention of the viewer on the faces in the portrait
3. Darker colors are easier to coordinate if there are multiple people in the photo.
4. Darker colors will coordinate with the outdoor settings that we use better than bright colors.
5. And, darker colors will usually coordinate nicely with the color of the wall on which the portrait will be displayed.

There you have it.

That frustrating person who has everything…

Friday, December 5th, 2008

No surprise - there are no bailouts for us, are there? We’re on our own. We have to figure out for ourselves how to make our budgets stretch to fit the season. The government isn’t going to help you or me.

But, Tracy Bookman Photography CAN help you stretch your dollars this Christmas season. How do we do that, you ask…

Well, what do you get for the person who has everything?
What about MEMORIES?
That’s right - Memories.
That’s what portraits are, you know. Memories of emotions, events, people, relationships.
The relationships. They’re what are the most important, and portraits can make those last forever.

When was the last time you had family portraits? What about portraits of your children?
Isn’t it about time?

Here’s the good part.
What we’ve decided to do for the month of December, is to make gift certificates from us available for you to purchase and give to that certain person who you can never quite think what to get.

Not only that, but we’re including bonus dollars on the certificates, so you get more than you bargained for, so to speak.
A $200 gift certificate is only $150!
A $100 gift certificate is only $79
Or, a $50 gift certificate is only $40

If you get these before December 19th, we’ll also include a free 8×10 for you which you can order from the session we do (or have done) for the person you give the certificate to, or, if we’ve done a session for you already, you can order from that session.

Here’s the catch, though. You knew there had to be one, didn’t you?
We’re only going to sell a total of 5 of the $200 certificates, and 10 each of the others. So, you have to call quick before they’re gone.

Give us a call at 719-749-0043, or just visit the website to contact us that way.

Have a great holiday season, and, may the Lord richly bless you.

Nationally published!!!

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Only 2 more months… We’ve been waiting since May, I think.
Wood Magazine, a nationally circulated periodical targeting woodworkers, contacted us back in May about doing coverage for an upcoming issue. Every year they have a special edition, “America’s Best Woodshops,” and a local guy here got chosen to be one of them.

So, Wood Mag chose us to do the photography! The issue comes out in February. They told us that they would send us several copies.

Until then, I can’t post any of the images we took because of the NDA. But, once it hits the stands, we’ll post some of the images here. In February, when it is published, you can get it at Lowe’s.

Stay tuned…

Senior Portraits… Justin from Texas, class of ‘09

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

I’d like to think that Justin came all the way up here from Texas just to have his portraits done by Tracy Bookman Photography, but, he was here visiting family.

Anyway, he and his family loved the portraits, so we put together a brief sampler music video of some of the images.

Thanks, Justin!

Thanks for viewing.

Co. Springs Photography Clients… You might be famous!

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

On November 20, we were privileged to be able to put up a portrait display in Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs. We have included photography from weddings, babies, children, HS seniors, and families. If you have been one of our clients in the past, you should head to the mall and check it out. You never know… you may be famous! We’ve already heard from many of our customers who have told us that their friends or family have been in the mall and seen their portraits on the display. One of our past clients sent us an Email today to tell us that she got an Email with a cell phone photo of the display. This past client now lives in Florida, but was still excited to see her family as our centerpiece exhibit.

If you go to check it out, here’s how to find it.
1. Go in the mall entrance by the DMV on the north side of the mall by Penney’s. Go down that hall, and when you enter the mall, you’re right in front of the display. It’s just across the center walkway.

2. If you enter on the lower-level, go up the escalators by Macy’s and the Santa display. When you get to the top, just go straight like you’re going to Dillards. The display will be just down the hall on your right.

Let us know what you think!
