Here I Grow

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Our “Here I Grow” baby program is one of our popular offerings. We just finished up Mallory’s program last month, and now we don’t get to see her any more! :-(

Mallory’s mom received 3 sessions throughout Mallory’s first year, and then got a framed collage with her favorite photo from each session. These are a lot of fun to do because, for a pretty low price, you get to watch your new little one grow up over the course of the year, and see it all captured in portraits.

Here’s what Mallory’s mom had to say about our last session at 12 months old.

I  am again impressed with your work, Tracy! I cannot believe the amazing pictures that resulted from such a challenging day, since Mallory was teething and so out of sorts! Thanks for working your magic….we will enjoy these collages for a lifetime!

I love working with babies, and would love to capture your little guy or girl in his or her first year, too.

We’ve got a great deal going on for the Here I Grow program through the month of February and until March 5th.

Thanks for reading.

Too Funny!

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Only a children’s photographer (or a do-it-yourself parent) can probably really appreciate this one.

In fact, this strip wasn’t nearly as funny when I first read it long before I was a photographer. :-D

Enjoy!

We Need Models: Cowboys, Cowgirls, Trains, Baseball, and Fishing Models!

We Need Models!

That’s right. We’re looking for kids, ages 2 - 7 to be models for sample portraits for several brand new Limited Edition sessions we’re planning to offer to all our clients this coming spring through fall.

First, a little background.

Since October, we’ve had a modeling program going for kids 0-15. Through that program, we’ve gotten dozens of great, fun, and whimsical children’s portraits as samples for our website and displays. You can see the slideshow below.

2010 Brings Several New Session Styles

This year, however, we’re planning to begin offering Limited Edition sessions for children’s portraits which will include Cowboys & Cowgirls, Train engineers, Baseball players, Fishermen, and others. But, in order for our clients and new clients to see what we can offer them, we have to have samples.

You’ll Get A Free Portrait + $100 Of Studio Credit

We certainly won’t ask you to volunteer your child without something from us in return, so we’re offering all of the kid models we select a FREE Facebook image from your session (This image will have all of our normal digital enhancements and retouching done to it), plus $100 of studio credit which you can use if you want to get more images from your session. All of the purchased images we deliver to you will also have the full digital enhancements and retouching, PLUS you’ll get them in digital format. That means you have the images to keep! Those of you who have worked with us in the past know that we don’t ever give out our digital “negatives,” so this is really something special that you can take advantage of.

Booking Sessions Now For February

But, we need to begin getting the images now so we can start displaying them in our promotional pieces and on our website, so we’re going to begin with the Cowboy/Cowgirl and Train Engineer sessions. If you’d like to have your little guys and girls be a part of our Limited Edition model program, please visit our website at springs-kid-models.com, and fill out the application. There is a deadline on this program, so be sure to apply soon!

Colorado Springs children's portraitsWhat a great response we’ve had this fall to our Kids’ Modeling Program. We’ve had a great time capturing some really fun images of children from babies to teens. These are being used as sample photos that we’ve put on the Children’s page on our website. Check it out.

The plan is to continue this program throughout the winter of 2010, so keep watch if you want your child to be our next super model! :-)

First Moments… again!

Friday, November 27th, 2009

This month has been crazy busy for us as we finish up senior portraits, crank out family portraits, and overall just try to get things done for people who want to send out portraits for the approaching holidays.

One of the types of sessions I enjoy doing is our First Moments session. This is an intentionally casual, photojournalistic and candid type of session of a family at home with their brand new baby. This is the second time we’ve done a session like this for the Graves family.

Enjoy the show!

Colorado Springs Kid Models

What mom doesn’t love it when a friend, family member, or a complete stranger tells her that her baby/toddler/child is so beautiful that he/she should be a child model?

Well, we’ve got just the program going on for those moms and their children.

If you’ve thought about introducing your child to the world of children’s modeling, but haven’t wanted to invest the money to get a professionally created portrait for the headshot card you need, or if you just would like a great portrait of your child, then we have a win-win situation.

We’re currently looking for models for our own portfolio. We’re wanting a lot more great sample images of children in outdoor locations rather than in studio settings. Plus, we’re also beginning our “lifestyle” sessions for children which are done using natural, available light in the client’s home.

So, to encourage you to have your child be one of our models, we’re giving away a free session and a digital image so you can use that to submit to the modeling agencies, or just have it for your own use.

If you would like more information about our new program, you can read about it all at the website for our new division called, Springs Kid Models.

It’s always a good time for children’s portraits

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

We have been doing a TON of baby, toddler, and children portraits this year, from brand new babies all the way up to teens, and from Fountain to Black Forest (I’m not counting HS seniors in this because we classify them in their own portrait group).

The advantage for you to have us photograph your children is that you don’t get the ordinary, run-of-the-mill, deer-in-the-headlights studio look that everyone else does. We do everything on location, either outdoors, or in your home. For babies, this is great for you because you have everything you need for baby right there! No need to haul a wardrobe to a studio - you have it all right there.

Here’s quickie slideshow of some of our recent children portraits.

Enjoy the show!
Thanks for reading (and watching…).

Ongoing relationships

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

This is what I love about my job.

Kevin and Brittany asked me to photograph their wedding 2 years ago, and we had a great time with the engagement session and the wedding itself, which was in Woodland Park.

Now, I recently was privileged to photograph their little daughter, Sarah. What a beauty!

Next, I will also be privileged to photograph Brittany’s sister’s wedding at Woodmen Valley’s Stone Chapel next June!

Here’s a slideshow I think you’ll enjoy even if you don’t know Sarah.

Enjoy!

Portrait session at Bear Creek

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Joey and Brett at Bear Creek Nature Center

This portrait session of these two boys couldn’t have turned out better. It was late in the afternoon so the sun was low and golden. It was being filtered nicely through the trees and providing a great hair light on the boys. In the studio, the photographer has to set up an extra light behind his subjects to provide the hair light, but this was there for free! :-)

This is one of my all-time favorite images. The boys’ mother, Susan, took our input on the clothing selection and that adds to the great look and feel of the portrait.

It was a great time and we captured some really neat images of the boys together and individually. It was actually the older brother’s birthday that day. He and his little brother were great subjects for the day, and each got a little prize from Tracy when we were all done. (OK, some times we call it a bribe… but these 2 did so well, we didn’t need to bribe them!) :-)

I love what their mom had to say after we showed her the portraits:

There aren’t too many things in life that turn out as you expect them to, but this experience has been far more than I could have expected! I’ve always dreamed of having beautiful, outdoor portraits of the children. Tracy, you didn’t disappoint! I love the portraits of the boys!

Time for some catch-up

Monday, August 31st, 2009
It's time for some catch-up around here!

It's time for some catch-up around here!

The last few weeks has been pretty crazy around here. Of course, it always gets that way this time of year. We’ve been busy with babies, HS seniors, and weddings. We’ll have some really fun and beautiful images to post this week, so be sure to check back regularly. I’m going to try to post some new images each day from our recent sessions. Who knows… you might be famous! Or, you might see someone on here you know.

So, we’ve got to scale back the number of sessions we’re doing this week so we can work on the images, prepare them for previewing for the clients, and get orders out to the lab, and deliver orders that we have here for our clients. This all has been kind of on the back burner for a couple weeks while we’ve been busy photographing. We have a few consultations planned and one session this week, but hopefully, everyone will forgive us if we don’t schedule any more, but put all new and incoming sessions on our schedule for next week.

Hey, and let me mention also that it’s just about time for FAMILY PORTRAITS! That’s right! Fall is the time of year when families love to get portraits done to send out as Christmas gifts. It’s a perfect time of year to do it with the cool weather and beautiful colors.

So… of course we’ll be offering a fall family photo special. That will be announced here this week, so keep checking the blog!

Lastly, here’s one of my favorite images from Mallory’s recent 6 month session!

Thanks for reading.
