Colorado Springs couples - Mark your calendar for the Push, Pull, or Drag him in Valentine's Day Portrait Special!

Colorado Springs couples - Mark your calendar for the Push, Pull, or Drag him in Valentine's Day Portrait Special!

…for a great portrait party and special!

We hear it all the time, how a wife doesn’t have any photos of just her and her husband. Unless a man and woman are getting engaged or married, they almost never get portraits done of just the 2 of them.

After photographing people for several years now, we’ve learned how hard it is to get the guys in for portraits.

So, ladies, we’ve made it super easy for you to bring your guy in for a portrait this year.

#1 - Most important… The session will only be 15 - 20 minutes! Your husband, boyfriend, or best friend won’t have to put up with me for very long!

#2 - The session is only $25!

#3 - You get a FREE Facebook image from the session for your Facebook profile!

#4 - If you want to order anything else, all our portraits are 50% for this special only

#5 - It’s right before Valentine’s Day. You can tell him to do it for you… :-)

THE DETAILS

The session date is February 6th, so it won’t even conflict with the Super Bowl. I’m telling you - we’ve thought of everything for you.

The times for the sessions for this special are limited. We’re only going to do sessions from 10 to 3, so if you want to get in on this, you’ve got to call us or Email us ASAP before we’re all booked. The deadline for reserving your session is January 29th, so contact us before that date.

We’ll plan for outdoor sessions unless the weather is just really crummy. If that’s the case, we’ll arrange for an indoor location, and will let you know ahead of time where it will be. But, we’d love it if we had one of those gentle, Colorado snows for this session date. Then you would get Snow portraits too!

If you’d like to get in on one of our Push, Pull, or Drag him in Valentine’s Day sessions, please call us or Email. This  special is good for married couples, engaged couples, dating couples, friends, even high school students.

Thanks for reading.

Kaitlyn’s Senior session video

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Here’s a quick video of Kaitlyn’s 2010 senior portrait session.

This was a great time with Kaitlyn and her mom in Fox Run Park last month. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and the location was perfect too.

If you’re considering doing senior portraits, or even family portraits, Fox Run Park is a great spot. There are 2 small lakes surrounded by trees and grass, and there’s a nice gazebo in the middle of one of the lakes. We’ve photographed 2 weddings on the gazebo.

If you’ve never been there, and you would like to check it out, to get to Fox Run, go north on Academy to Hwy. 83. Take this past New Life Church where 83 turns sharp right and if you keep going straight past New Life, you’re now on Voyager Pkwy. Take Voyager all the way to Northgate Rd. and turn right. At Roller Coaster Rd., turn left and stay on that until you get to Stella. At this intersection, you’ll see a sign for the park. Turn left on Stella and then an immediate right into the park. If you go left at the dead-end, follow the road around until you see the lakes on the right.

Fox Run has 5 miles of trails, sports fields, and a couple of great playgrounds for the smaller children.

Enjoy!

Love in the House

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Not long ago, the Jeub family asked me to do some photography for them. Wendy and Chris are both authors and need some professional portraits for their books. While I was there, I took some time to photograph life at their house with 13 children (with 2 others already out of the house). So, I put together a fun slideshow of that enjoyable afternoon.

Enjoy the show!

From Branden & Beth - Thank you!!

Branden & Beth recently had portraits for their 5th wedding anniversary. Congratulations!

We LOVE our portraits! We wanted this to be special for our (5th) anniversary, but we never expected everything to turn out so great. Now we want to get dressed in our wedding clothes again and have you do our “wedding” photos too! We’re very happy with everything and can’t wait to get our portraits so we can put them on our ‘wall of fame.’ :-)  Thanks again!

Branden & Beth Williams,
Colorado Springs

Oh, and by the way, here’s the link to Branden’s business website. Guess what he does! He’s a magician. So he and I had a common link… I used to work at Zeezo’s Magic Castle when I was in high school.

Thanks for reading.

What an honor…

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

What an honor it was to be asked by our client, Michelle, to do a photojournalistic-style session for her husband’s homecoming from Iraq. Blake hadn’t been home for a year, so it was especially meaningful for his family to have this event recorded. We provided a DVD slideshow to Michelle, as well as a couple of other “surprise” items (which we can’t reveal right now). :-)

The building where the reception was held was pretty dark, and I was sensitive about using my flash a lot. I didn’t want to disturb the solemnity of the event. When the soldiers came into the building in formation, the crowd exploded. Even now, writing about it, I get emotional. I have to admit that I did get a little teary when everyone started cheering these men and women who were getting ready to greet their families and friends. As the chaplain pointed out, though, there were some families who didn’t get to be reunited with their loved ones.

Michelle, Blake, their children, and I all got to sit down yesterday afternoon and watch the slideshow. Michelle let it play over and over.

It was, indeed, an honor to be able to serve this family in this way, and I hope you enjoy the slideshow too.

Thanks for reading (and watching)

Portraits in Colorado Springs - What to wear?

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Family portrait in DecemberWe get asked on almost every session, “What should we wear?” For just about every session, with some exceptions for H.S. Seniors, we recommend darker colors with no prints. Stick with solid colors.

Here are a few reasons why you should consider darker colors.
1. Darker colors subtract weight from the subject.
2. Darker colors focus the attention of the viewer on the faces in the portrait
3. Darker colors are easier to coordinate if there are multiple people in the photo.
4. Darker colors will coordinate with the outdoor settings that we use better than bright colors.
5. And, darker colors will usually coordinate nicely with the color of the wall on which the portrait will be displayed.

There you have it.
